About
Identity Crisis is a rock band from the Charlotte, NC region. Vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Mark Roads, lead guitarist Scott Lister, bassist and keyboardist Kevin Boyle, and drummer Ray LaPage have been playing in each other’s orbits for years, crossing paths in previous bands before locking in as this lineup.
The name says it all. With a catalog that spans Southern rock, hard rock, blues, prog, soul, and everything in between, the band leaned into the contradiction rather than fight it. The music refuses to stay in one lane, pulling from Zeppelin, Alice in Chains, Stevie Wonder, Rush, the Stones, and beyond. Yet somehow it all sounds like them. An identity crisis, sure. But still an identity.
When they cover a song, they don’t play it safe. Most covers are built off heavier, grittier interpretations rather than the well-worn original versions, turning up the heat with soaring lead solos from Lister, locked-in grooves from Boyle and LaPage, and in-your-face vocals from Roads. The originals follow the same philosophy: no genre ceiling, just the song.
